Scott Ralston, 34,  of Monroe, was arrested around 3 a.m. Monday, March 11, after Shelton Police responded to a home for a report of a domestic incident, said Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango.

According to police, Ralston showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s residence at 3 .m., pounding on the door. The ex-girlfriend, who was in the residence with her 2-year-old son, barricaded herself in by placing a couch against the locked door, Bango said.

Ralston kicked the door until he was able to make entry. Once inside, Ralston grabbed the ex-girlfriend by the hair and dragged her into the kitchen where he hit and kicked her, he added.

The incident took place in the presence of the victim’s two-year-old son. During the assault, the victim attempted to call 911 but Ralston grabbed the phone out of her hand and threw it across the room. He then stole some prescription medication from the home and fled.

The ex-girlfriend was checked on the scene by EMS and refused further medical treatment. Ralston was located at Griffin Hospital and taken into custody.

At the Shelton Police Department Ralston was charged with home invasion, assault, interfering with an emergency call, risk of injury to a child, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.

Ralston was held on a $250,000.00 bond and will appear in Derby Superior court on March 12.
